We would love you to join us.  The first evening's theme is "Is there more to life than this?" and we have made that a taster session. If at any point you think this Alpha course isn’t for you, that’s no problem - there’s no pressure, no follow up and no charge.

or you can just rock up on Wednesday evenings

The evening begins with coffee and dessert on the basis that “Life is short - eat dessert first!”
The theme for the evening is presented in a short film (Click here for trailer), designed to explore what the Christian faith has to say on one of the big questions of life and to encourage conversation. There is no expectation that those attending will be share the views being expressed. In fact it would be a pretty dull evening if they do!
Probably the most important part of any Alpha evening is the chance to share your thoughts and ideas on the night's topic, and then discuss it around a table. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously!) It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.

We hope that through discussion and dialogue the evenings will be thoroughly enjoyable and mutually enriching - even if at the end of it we all agree to disagree!

OK - so what's the catch?

There isn't any. Honest. Here's the background.
Living Lordswood is led by Judy & Pete Short and Ian & Suzy Williamson.  For much of the year we are busy running the Living Lordswood Community Choir but every Spring we have a term off from singing - but we still look for ways to build friendships and spread some joy and hope in the neigbourhood. In the past we have experimented with a discussion group using TED talks to kick start interaction. We had some great evenings and the format worked really well.
Then a couple of years ago Pete's health was a wee bit 'wobbly' and his enforced rest gave him time to think again about what really mattered in life - and to start a 'bucket list'!  Somewhere on that list featured running an 'Alpha Course'.  Pete said: "I see this Alpha Course as an opportunity to explore 'Live the universe and everything' in the company of friends".
